BEAT THE WINTER RUSH 

If you arrange to have your chimney swept in the summer months you can avoid the winter waiting lists. A warm chimney in summer stops the setting of soot and tar in your chimney meaning it will sweep alot better. Here at Gloucester Stove Centre we have our own chimney sweep who sweeps, services and helps maintain our customers stoves.

We get our firewood from JOHN HARTLAND who delivers hardwood for the right price, no softwood mixed in. Telephone JOHN on 01684 275859 or 07811340975. JOHN reccomends wood to be bought and stored in a dry place during the summer ready for the winter months and it will be dry, burn better and longer giving you more heat for your money.

  Fuels Available At Our Store (with the environment in mind)

Hotmax – a fuel log produced from bark and dust generated during the production of bedmax the bedding produced for horses from woodshavings. Hotmax will be available this season. It will be a very good fuel for you to try and good value for your money as it gives a good heat output.

  How Gloucestershire Stove Centre Started

Alistair and Carol Davidson established Gloucestershire Stove Centre over 30 years ago. The business started after Alistair couldn't get anyone to travel to his house to sweep a chimney, so he purchased rods and brushes and did the job himself. Upon completion the neighbours asked him to do their chimneys, they told their friends, word spread and the business was started.

After a few years of chimney sweeping a substantial customer base was built up and the business expanded to offer a full range of specialist chimney services.

Fire and Chimney Services can offer the personal service and experience for your installation and service requirements. As well as chimney building, maintenance and chimney sweeping we are also experienced in the installation and servicing of wood, multi fuel and electric stoves. we use  ben bowers of BB plumbing for all boiler instalations as you must have a plumber who knows solid fuel boilers and stoves and not all plumbers do beleave me .

                                         Modern Wood Burning and Multifuel Stoves

This is a photo taken through the glass of an advanced technology wood stove, one that is EPA certified. Note that the flames are big and lush and semi-transparent, much different from the dark, opaque, ragged flames you would see in an open fireplace.The small jets and feathery flames at the top of the image are flowing downward from the tiny combustion air holes at the top of the firebox.

                                THE DANGERS OF FITTING YOUR OWN STOVE

You have a legal obligation and moral duty to yourself and your family to ensure your stove has been fitted properly and safely. It is essential that a qualified fitter installs your stove for you. It is not something you should attempt on a DIY basis. The fitting of a stove is critical and attempting an installation without expert knowledge can be extremely dangerous – in enclosed environments and spaces, it can even cause death through smoke or carbon monoxide poisoning.
